Sentyment vs. Mention: $599 Annual Contract or $29 a Month?

25 Sep 20268 min read

What is the difference between Sentyment and Mention?

Mention is a media-monitoring platform: you build an alert out of keywords, and it crawls the web, social platforms, review sites, and even radio and TV for anything matching, then scores each result for sentiment and reach. Sentyment starts from one conversation. You give it the URL of a Reddit thread, YouTube video, or Instagram post, and it reads the comments underneath and classifies them one by one, quoting the ones behind each score.

Sentyment vs. Mention at a glance

The two are priced for different buyers now. Mention closed its self-serve plans to new customers in July 2025 and sells one enterprise plan on an annual contract. Sentyment still sells month to month, with a free tier.

How much does Mention cost?

Mention's Company plan starts at USD $599 a month on an annual contract. That figure is in Mention's help centre rather than on its pricing page, which shows the plan with a "Get a demo" button where a checkout used to be, so the exact limits still come out of a sales conversation about your volume. Confirm the current number with Mention directly, and treat the cheaper monthly figures still circulating online as prices for plans it has stopped selling.

The plan includes sentiment analysis, Boolean alerts of up to 2,000 characters, white-label reporting and a dedicated account manager, with 5 alerts and 50,000 mentions a month as the baseline. API access and historical data are the two exceptions, sold as paid add-ons rather than included. Mention discounts for non-profits on request, and there is still a free trial, currently advertised at 14 days with no credit card.

What happened to Mention's cheap plans?

Mention stopped selling its Solo, Pro and Pro Plus plans to new customers in July 2025. Its help centre says existing customers on those legacy plans keep access but cannot change their current self-serve plan, so the cheap tiers survive only for people who were already on them. Solo started at $41 a month, which makes the Company plan roughly fourteen times the old entry price.

Two other changes are worth knowing before you shortlist it:

  • Mention was acquired by Agorapulse, which the Mention homepage announces in a banner across the top.
  • Publish and Respond were removed for all users in January 2026. Mention's help centre names Agorapulse as the official replacement, so if you were planning to use Mention to post as well as listen, that is two subscriptions.

Mention is the same monitoring tool it was, and the part that remains is the part it was always strongest at. It is no longer the cheap self-serve pick in this category, and most of the comparison content on the web still describes it as though it were.

How much does Sentyment cost?

Sentyment costs USD $29 a month for 300 credits on Standard, or $79 for 1,000 on Pro, both month to month with no contract. There is a permanent free plan of 20 credits that does not ask for a card. Credits are spent per analysis rather than per seat, so a second person costs nothing, and the full breakdown sits on the pricing page.

Sentyment is still bought the way Mention used to be bought, with a card and no conversation.

What does it cost to answer one question in each tool?

Say a competitor launched last week and you want to know how it landed. In Sentyment that is the 3 biggest Reddit threads and 2 YouTube reviews, 5 credits, inside the free plan's 20 a month, and you have the answer within the hour. In Mention the same question starts with a demo booking and ends at $599 a month on an annual contract, so answering it once costs $7,188 committed up front.

Nobody buys Mention to answer one question. The $599 buys a year of watching every keyword you care about across news, forums, review sites and broadcast, and it keeps working while nobody is looking. What it will not do is turn a single thread around this afternoon for nothing. So the sum above flatters Sentyment. It is still the comparison that matters if what you have is a question rather than a monitoring job.

Does Mention analyse Reddit and TikTok comments?

Mention reaches Reddit comments as keyword matches, not as a thread. It treats Reddit as its own source, crawls public subreddits, and surfaces a result when your keyword appears in a post or a comment, with the surrounding comments viewable on the mention. Private subreddits are out of reach. TikTok is thinner: Mention matches your query against a video's description, so a TikTok only surfaces if the description contains your keyword.

Mention answers "show me every Reddit comment that says our brand name". Sentyment answers "read all 400 comments on this thread and tell me what the room thinks", including the several hundred that never mention your brand by name and would therefore never match an alert.

Mention covers far more ground. Its marketing lists LinkedIn and Pinterest, which Sentyment does not touch, and radio and TV across US and Canadian channels, which almost nothing else at any price does. Its plan documentation describes a narrower core source list, so confirm broadcast and LinkedIn coverage is in the package you are quoted.

How accurate is each tool's sentiment analysis?

Sentyment publishes 93% classification accuracy on a labelled benchmark. Mention publishes 82% across its five main languages, and adds that the model is Transformer-based and was fine-tuned on 500,000 mentions. None of those test sets is public. The two figures measure different tasks on different data, and no benchmark in this market is independently audited, so ranking one against the other tells you nothing useful.

Mention discloses more about its method than we do. Where the tools differ is what you see when one gets a call wrong: Mention shows sentiment as an indicator on each mention alongside reach and influence, and Sentyment puts the comments next to the score, so a misread stays visible instead of averaging away quietly. Sarcasm defeats both.

Who should actually use Mention?

Mention is a strong monitoring platform with a long track record. It is the better choice for:

  • Organisations that need broadcast coverage, since radio and TV monitoring across US and Canadian channels is rare at any price, though it is worth confirming that it is in the package you are quoted
  • Anyone who needs LinkedIn or Pinterest watched, neither of which Sentyment covers
  • Teams running complex queries, given Boolean alerts of up to 2,000 characters
  • PR and comms functions that need real-time alerting, and that can fund the historical data add-on for a two-year archive to report against
  • Agencies that need white-label reports and a dedicated account manager
  • Buyers who want an API and are willing to pay for it as an add-on
  • Anyone already using Agorapulse for publishing, since the two are now the same company

Who should actually use Sentyment?

Sentyment is the better choice when the conversation you care about is already identified and you need the comments themselves:

  • Small teams and founders with no self-serve option at Mention any more
  • Anyone who needs a number today rather than a quote next week
  • Researchers reading a whole thread, not just the comments that happen to contain a keyword
  • Teams that only ever wanted the analysis half, now that publishing has moved to Agorapulse
  • Anyone weighing a year of monitoring against a handful of questions they could answer this afternoon

Against a platform this broad, the honest comparison is mostly a list of things Sentyment does not do. It watches nothing between runs, so it will never be what tells you a story broke. Its six social platforms leave out news, blogs, review sites, radio, TV, LinkedIn and Pinterest, all of which Mention covers. Free-plan analyses stop at 250 comments per URL. Mention also reaches years of history, where Sentyment reads a thread as it stands today. Buying Sentyment instead of a monitoring tool means accepting that you find the conversation yourself, which is precisely the work a monitoring tool exists to remove.

Can you use Mention and Sentyment together?

Mention and Sentyment fit together more naturally than they compete: Mention finds the conversations and Sentyment reads them. The obstacle is the price of entry, so the pairing makes sense for a team that already runs Mention rather than one choosing between the two. If you want the same split at a self-serve price, Awario still sells self-serve plans, though it prices in local currency rather than USD. The underlying division of labour is covered in Sentiment Analysis vs. Social Listening.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mention still have a free plan?

No. Mention offers a trial rather than a free plan, currently advertised at 14 days with no credit card, and its self-serve Solo, Pro and Pro Plus tiers stopped being sold to new customers in July 2025. Sentyment has a permanent free plan with 20 credits a month.

How much is Mention per month?

Mention's Company plan starts at USD $599 a month on an annual contract, a figure it publishes in its help centre rather than on its pricing page, which offers a demo booking instead. Cheaper monthly figures you find online are usually the discontinued Solo, Pro and Pro Plus tiers, which ran from $41 to $149.

Who owns Mention?

Agorapulse, the social media management platform, which acquired Mention in 2025. Mention now directs its own users to Agorapulse for publishing and responding.

What is a cheaper alternative to Mention?

For continuous keyword monitoring, Awario starts at USD $49 a month, or $29 on an annual plan, and Brand24 at $249 a month, or $199 billed annually. Both still sell self-serve. If the budget is genuinely enterprise, Brandwatch is the other end of the same market. For reading the comments on specific posts rather than tracking keywords, Sentyment is free to start and $29 a month after that.

Can Mention read every comment on a Reddit thread?

Not as a unit. Mention returns the comments that match your keyword and lets you view the surrounding discussion on that mention. Reading an entire thread and classifying all of it is a different job, which is what Sentyment does from the thread URL for 1 credit.

Conclusion

Mention is an enterprise monitoring platform now, from $599 a month on an annual contract, with breadth that runs from Reddit to LinkedIn to broadcast TV and years of history available behind it. That buys a category of coverage Sentyment does not attempt. Sentyment costs $29 a month, starts free, and does one narrow thing: it reads a conversation you have already found and shows you what was in it. If Mention's old Solo tier at $41 was what you came looking for, that product is gone, and nothing replaces it exactly. Awario and Brand24 are the closest on monitoring; Sentyment is the closest on getting an answer today without signing anything.
